Horseshoe B Longhorns - Texas Longhorn Wagon & Safari Tours  Nature experience

Horseshoe B Longhorns is the largest purebred Texas Longhorn herd in Australia and is the only attraction in the country where you can take a horse drawn canvas covered wagon ride viewing these historic ‘wild west’ cattle. Safari tours are also available. Minimum number of passengers applies.

The Miner's Cottage   Heritage site

The Miner's Cottage Museum and Interpretive Centre was established in 1992. It has become a "must see" tourist attraction. Learn about the fabulous gold mining under the streets of Charters Towers and learn how to "pan for real gold".

On the outskirts of the city, the Venus Gold Battery offers an insight into the city's incredible real-life gold rush of the late 19th century. The battery is of national cultural significance as the largest surviving battery relic in Australia.

Zara Clark Museum  Museum

The National Trust owned museum houses a large range of collection of photographs, equipment and other memorabilia that reflect Charters Towers' golden past. Friendly volunteers and staff are only too willing to share their special stories and demonstrate some of the equipment that is housed in the historic Burns Philip building, built 1888.

'ghosts of gold' Gift Shop  Museum

Located in the beautiful Stock Exchange Building the 'ghosts of gold' Gift Shop has local art and crafts, souvenirs, books, shirts and gold. Take a walk through. Join the "CC" tour held every hour from 9.40am or visit the Assay Mining Room.

Historic Ambulance Centre  Museum

The centre dates back to 1903 and was the first ambulance station outside of Brisbane and covered a working area of almost 70,000 sq kms (approximately the size of Tasmania). Here visitors can view a wonderful collect of old vehicles, uniforms and an enormous number of log books recording the cases treated by ambulance officers during the past 100 years. The centre is open on Wednesdays & Sundays and at other times by appointment.
